Patch notes · 17.7
What's new in TFT 17.7?
17.7 is an almost all-buff patch: instead of reining in the strong lines, Riot lifts the weaker ones across the board and reopens Choncc's Treasure mode with its legendary roster. The headline balance change is a stronger Timeless trait via Shen's rework, plus a wave of small buffs across every cost tier. This article reframes the notes around one question: who does each change affect, and what should you play?
Quick read: what to remember
- This is an "all-buff" patch. Only a few small nerfs; almost everything else is a power increase — expect the meta to widen with more viable lines.
- Timeless gets stronger thanks to Shen. Shen gains the Timeless trait, pushing that line into a real late-game option.
- Duplicate and Lawless are buffed, enough for both traits to compete again rather than just splash in.
- Primal is easier to hit: its top breakpoint drops from 6 to 5 units, with a slight cut to peak reward — easier to use, a touch lower ceiling.
- Choncc's Treasure mode returns with legendary champions and its own unlock mechanics — fun content alongside ranked.
Trait changes
| Trait | Change | What it means |
|---|---|---|
| Primal | Top breakpoint 6 → 5 units; peak reward slightly lowered | Easier to activate and build around, but a bit less ceiling than before. |
| Duplicate (2) | Skill effectiveness 22/45% → 22/50% | At higher tiers Duplicate amplifies noticeably more — your main carry benefits most. |
| Lawless | Damage 12/25/40/55% → 12/25/45/60% | The back-end buff gives high-tier Lawless meaningfully more damage. |
| Timeless (4) | Slightly toned down to offset Shen joining the trait | Timeless is stronger overall now that Shen provides a durable, tempo-holding frontline. |
Notable champion changes
- Shen (5-cost): gains the Timeless trait and an updated costume — the biggest directional change of the patch, opening a Timeless line with a strong frontline.
- Vex (5-cost): gains the Astral trait and a new costume; skill damage adjusted 140/210 → 130/195 to offset the value from the new trait.
- Graves (5-cost): all upgrades brought down to 1-star cost — far easier to bring online right away.
- Master Yi (4-cost): energy 30/70 → 20/60, entering his powered state faster — the melee Master Yi line hits its rhythm sooner.
- Diana (3-cost): shield 275/325/475 → 275/325/515 and damage 60/90/145 → 60/90/160 — tankier and hits harder.
- Urgot (3-cost): post-transformation innate damage 225% → 250% AD, making the Urgot frontline bully stronger.
- Zoe (2-cost): secondary skill damage 34/51/77 → 36/54/88.
- Talon (1-cost): skill damage at 3/4-star up (400/600/1000/1700 → 400/600/1100/1850) — the Talon reroll line breathes easier.
- Ezreal (1-cost): drone collection threshold 8 → 7, triggering his effect one beat sooner.
- Rare nerf: Zed (5-cost) damage reduction 33/45% → 33/40%.
Augments: check before you pick
- Birthday Bash: cost 3 → 1 gold. It was too strong for the economy before; the price cut is the most significant nerf of the patch.
- Heart of Peril: Primal resist 60 → 75, energy 30/90 → 30/70, sword innate 50 → 75 — clearly stronger.
- Bonk!: attack speed 0.75 → 0.8.
- Stellar Chain: damage buffs across star levels.
- Meep Turbo: energy 10/55 → 10/50.
The augment rule doesn't change per patch: pick the one that fixes your biggest weakness right now. See also our fundamentals reading list for more.
On the side: platform & bug fixes
- From July 22, mobile devices with 2GB/3GB RAM are no longer supported — low-spec mobile players will need to upgrade to keep playing.
- Fixed a bug where Everyday Stories granted 5-star champions at the wrong timing.
In short, 17.7 is a "rising tide" patch: few nerfs, lots of buffs, widening the pool of viable lines rather than creating one dominant comp. If you like Timeless, Duplicate or Lawless, it's a good time to try them again.
